Master of Arts ( Mass Communication)  
 
Duration : Three Years
Qualification : Graduation

The programme of study offered by the Center is MA in Mass. Communication. The programme is being developed by giving equal importance to hands-on-learning and theoretical knowledge. This will enable a student to start her/his carrier with confidence at the entry point level in any media organisation/ social organisation. The curriculum of Master of Arts in Mass Communication is a convergence of all the allied areas of study, related to communication. A major emphasis is given to the different level of writing
practices for separate medium.
After completing the programme the participants will have options to start her/his career in any one of the following fields:

1. Academic
2. Print Media
3. Electronic Media
4. Advertising
5. Social Sector
6. Research Organisation

At the end of the last semester the students will be attached, for internship for a minimum period of four week, either to some media organisation or to an NGO.

Objectives
The MA in Mass Communication programme is designed to meet following objectives:
::       to offer a curriculum that provides training in basic skills in different areas of mass communication.
::      to give students an understanding of the mass communication process, its impact on humane and          social    factors, and the sociocultural environment within which it operates.
::       to improve the ability in oral and written communication, particularly in  professional genres .
::       to instil in the students a sense of purpose, mission and ethical values in their chosen fields .
::       to engage students in critical analysis of the texts of the media of mass  communication.
::       To lead the students towards, intellectual preparation that emphasizes the ability to think critically and          creatively, the ability
::       to solve problems effectively in a professional context, and to scope with  the fast moving changes in         the professional world .
::       To prepare professionals, who possess the ability to produce, present, and  disseminate information in         accordance with the  higher standard of excellence of media organizations/ NGOs.

* If needed or a situation arises, any part of the curriculum( a complete unit or a complete course) can be    changed.
*Dissertation writing will start from the third semester.
* A four to six weeks attachment with a mainstream/ alternative media organisation will be arranged at the   end of the session.
